Yep, I meant the "best jazz album of all time", Kind of blue by Miles Davis. Since a few months now I'm an avid listener of jazz. Discovering new frontiers of music every day. New artists, new styles, new... stuff. And Miles definitely had to come up eventually. Anyway, the other day I got meself the acclaimed masterpiece and shoved it into the CD player. Wasn't really impressed, so I laid it aside for awhile, to let it cool. That was, of course, before I read the "best jazz album of all time" annotation. I figured I ought to give it another chance, just for kicks.
And yes, slowly it revolved. Opened. Suddenly it seemed more full of content. Good improvisations, nice melodies. The trumpet sounds very good. Some songs are even great. I could say, yes, I like it.
Now the drop of gin: do I like it because I like it, or do I like it just because I was told to like it? How do I tell the difference?
One step ahead: Can I actually inherently like something, or is the only way to have an opinion on something to pick it up somewhere else?
